New Year, Same You, But Blooming

As the first month of the year continues, the pressure is still on from our resolutions and promises we attempt to keep to better ourselves. “This is my year,” is a common phrase during this time. We set all these goals to become our best selves. Come February, our goals prove to be unrealistic, and before you know it, you’ve totally flopped. What happens is the pursuit of perfection, rather than the journey of progress. Setting realistic and tangible goals, such as making it to class just once a week or drinking enough water. Setting an end goal can help us overcome the negative thought patterns that cause us to fail; they help us achieve and orient our goals.

Mostly, they keep us inspired when the couch is calling. To attain your end goals, consider the following:

  • Does my fitness practice provide benefits for me beyond the time I’m exercising? What is it I want to feel when exercising?
  • What are my actual health goals (i.e., reducing stress, better sleep, improving mood)?
  • Other than my physical fitness, is there anything else I want to get out of my practice?

The last bullet point is one you should take your time to consider, and can even point you toward an unexpected direction. Would connecting with others who share your goals help? Being a part of a community will keep you accountable and engaged in most cases. Some think that starting out at home by yourself is the most realistic place to start but that probably won’t keep you motivated or work for long in the end. Keep in mind that your goals are tailored specifically to you for a purpose—they’re an indicator of a path in which you want to grow on.

Connecting your goals to the bigger picture of your personal journey helps you create flexibility and to unfold other paths that might not have been so clear or even aspired for when you keep your eyes on one small goal. This leaves you open for more meaningful achievements, and you will find yourself connecting to a deeper sense of self and gratitude.

January is a special month, just 3 years ago Jenny and Lindsey created their own resolution to open Bloom, with the slow progress the previous months going into January it seemed like less and less of an achievable goal but with our very own family and friends..our community we were able to build up the space and open on Jan 22, 2017 and we couldn't be more proud and grateful for what it has become today. A studio built by a community and continues to grow its own, thank you to all who have supported Bloom we love and appreciate every single person who has walked through our doors!

For our anniversary this year, every class TOMORROW (Jan 22nd) is FREE and open for everyone to join in! We'd love to meet your friends and family in class!
